Learned something good today. Since the start I have been working with my WordPress theme files through an external FTP program. When I am done working with the file I upload via FTP and it takes 10 seconds or more to make the change. Normally this is not a problem, but I have been messing with the .css file in a theme and want to see my changes right away, so I end up making a change and then uploading the change and refreshing my browser to see the change. This quickly becomes very frustrating always waiting for the change then refreshing. I just found (it’s been right in front of me all this time, I just did not look at it!) the Editor tab under Appearance and this allows you to select any file in the theme you are working on and edit it right in the window. The beauty of this is the speed, the update time is two to three times faster than using my external FTP program. You select update and it’s done almost instantly verses the 10 seconds or more with my FTP.
So, when your editing files in a theme use the “Editor” window under “Appearance” it works much faster.
